Being a confident and competent swimmer is a great milestone, but it doesn’t have to be the end of their swimming journey.
We encourage children to keep swimming regularly to practise and reinforce their skills, build confidence and continue developing their physical abilities. Regular swimming is also a great way for children to stay active, develop coordination and strength, and build healthy movement habits as they grow.
For swimmers who are ready for a greater challenge, there are several pathways to explore.
Development Squad & X Lab Competitive Squad
Swimmers at I3 level and above can explore our Development Squad and work towards progressing into the X Lab Competitive Squad. Internal X Lab tryouts are conducted twice a year, usually in March and November. We also conduct an online Parent FAQ session around the tryouts for parents who would like to understand more about the programme, training commitment and pathway. Details will be shared through our WhatsApp broadcast and/or email.
Juniors @ Hwa Chong – Once-a-Week Pre-Comp Training
For swimmers who are looking for more challenge but are only able to commit to one training session a week, Juniors @ Hwa Chong offers a great introduction to competitive swimming. This pre-competitive hybrid programme is also conducted by X Lab and provides swimmers with an opportunity to experience more structured training, develop their skills and gain exposure to swim meets, while maintaining a once-a-week commitment.

Whether your child swims for enjoyment, fitness and development, or chooses to explore competitive swimming, the important thing is to keep swimming, keep practising and keep developing.
