- Term Structure: Each term consists of 12 instructional weeks. Parents/guardians are responsible for referring to the Student Portal for the term schedule, assessment dates and other important programme information.
- Make-Up Class Tokens: Each student is entitled to up to two (2) make-up class tokens per term, regardless of the reason for absence.
- Booking and Notice: Make-up classes must be booked through the Student Portal at least three (3) days in advance, subject to availability.
- Class Allocation: Students using make-up class tokens will be allocated to available classes of a similar level by the Customer Service team to ensure appropriate class placement and a consistent learning experience. All allocations are subject to availability, and students are not permitted to select alternative days, timeslots or locations.
- Wet Weather & Haze Cancellations: Sessions may be cancelled due to adverse weather or haze conditions. Up to three (3) make-up credits may be provided per term for sessions cancelled due to wet weather and/or haze, subject to the applicable terms and conditions. Please refer to the next section for further details and guidelines on wet weather and haze-related cancellations.
- Planning and Assessments: Parents/guardians are encouraged to plan ahead and take note of the term schedule, particularly during assessment weeks, when attendance is important for evaluating swimmers’ progress and determining readiness for progression. Please check the Student Portal regularly for assessment dates, programme updates and other important announcements.
Late Payment fee
- Payment Terms: Term fees must be paid in full by Lesson 3. Swim Lab reserves the right to suspend a swimmer’s participation in lessons if payment remains outstanding. Any missed lessons resulting from non-payment will not be eligible for refunds, credits or make-up sessions.
- Late Payments: Swim Lab reserves the right to impose a late payment penalty of $21.80 per month (inclusive of GST) for invoices overdue by 30 days or longer.
- Suspension for Outstanding Payments: Swimmers with invoices overdue by 15 days or longer may be suspended from lessons until all outstanding payments are settled.

Make-Up Lesson Policy
- Eligibility: Each student is entitled to a maximum of two make-up class tokens per term. Tokens are available only to actively registered students with no outstanding fees.
- Valid Reasons: Make-up class tokens may be used for missed lessons due to medical appointments, travel, personal matters or other valid reasons. Medical certificates (MCs) are not required.
- Non-Transferable: Make-up class tokens cannot be transferred to another programme or sibling, or used to offset fees for the following term.
- Validity Period: All make-up class tokens must be used within the same term. Unused or expired tokens are non-refundable and cannot be carried forward. Any outstanding make-up tokens will be forfeited after the student’s last scheduled lesson of the term.
- Withdrawal and Rejoining: Withdrawing from and subsequently rejoining the programme will reset the student’s make-up class token entitlement.
- Booking and Attendance: Once a make-up lesson has been scheduled, rescheduling is not permitted. If a student misses a booked make-up lesson, the token will be forfeited.
- Missed or Cancelled Make-Up Lessons: Missed or cancelled make-up lessons will not entitle the student to a refund, credit or an additional make-up lesson.
Having said that, please understand that the key to swimming progress is consistency. Therefore, please honour the spirit of this privilege and only use it for illness or an occasional special event.
Minimum Class Size Policy
- Minimum Enrolment: To maintain the quality and sustainability of our programmes, each class requires a minimum enrolment of three (3) students.
- Class Cancellation or Merger: If a class fails to meet the minimum enrolment requirement after one term (three months), Swim Lab reserves the right to cancel or merge the class.
- Alternative Arrangements: Affected students will be notified in advance and offered alternative classes of a similar level, subject to availability. Swim Lab will make reasonable efforts to minimise disruption and accommodate affected students.
Assessment Policy
- Term Assessments: Assessments are conducted at the end of each term to evaluate swimmers’ progress in technique, water confidence and safety skills.
- Progression Philosophy: Swim Lab prioritises strong foundations and long-term, quality learning over rushing through levels. Progression is based on each swimmer’s demonstrated ability and readiness.
- Parent Participation: Parents and swimmers are encouraged to set aside time during assessment weeks to support the assessment process and understand the swimmer’s progress.
- Further Information: For more details, please refer to the Assessment FAQ on the Student Portal.

Please note the following conditions:
- Backdated Medical Certificates: Backdated MCs submitted without prior notification to Swim Lab or X Lab will not be accepted.
- Notice of Absence: An MC submitted for a missed class will not entitle the swimmer to an additional make-up class if at least six (6) hours’ notice of absence was not provided before the scheduled class.

We seek parents’/guardians’ understanding that make-up class options may be limited due to scheduling and capacity constraints.
- No Monetary Refunds: No monetary refunds will be provided for classes cancelled due to equipment failure or coach unavailability.
- Assistance: Swim Lab will endeavour to minimise disruption and help affected students arrange suitable alternative sessions. The cancellation notification will include relevant details and instructions for booking a make-up class.
